Kyle Thomas began flying in 1986 and has been teaching students to fly since 1992. In that time he has logged over 2500 hours as a flight instructor and endorsed over 70 students for FAA practical exams.

He served as an Assistant Chief Flight Instructor at SOSU until joining the faculty full time as the Aviation Sciences Institute's Chief Flight Instructor in 1996. His interests include flying, fishing, reading about U.S. history, and working in the yard.

Mr. Thomas and his wife, Traci, have two daughters, Allyson and Chloe.
